lake and distant hills from the
french windows and the double height ceiling gives a wonderful sense of space. Outside there is a balcony with a table and two chairs which provides a fantastic position to enjoy the view.
There is the use of a shared washing machine in the cellar under the lower apartment, where there is also additional storage space for bikes or other bulky items.
Upstairs there is a mezanine floor which has a double bed and modern shower room with an additional WC. There are nice views of the village houses from the shuttered window, and the rooflight makes it very bright and airy.
Lou Marcelou is a traditional provencal stone building perched on the hillside with magnificent views over Lac St Croix and the hills beyond
The original building dates back to pre-Napoleonic times and is full of character and charm with exposed stone walls and original wooden beams.
The building has been split into 2 apartments each offering accommodation for 2/4 people in open plan living areas. The apartments each have their own entrances and outside parking and can be rented individually or together if required.
32m/sq + 19m/sq Terrace, Sleeps 2/4
Apartment two is in the old stables where animals were kept from Napoleonic times until quite recently.
Parking is on the road directly outside the apartment and access is via the stone steps onto a wonderful large terrace (19m/sq) from which there are fabulous views over the lake to the mountains beyond
Patio doors open into an open plan living room with a well equiped kitchen on one side and large sofa on the other (which converts into a large double bed).
The interior of apartment two is slightly smaller than the upper apartment but it benefits from having the large terrace outside.
At the rear of the apartment is a mezzanine level with a beautiful antique French Demi Corbeille bed and antique French bedside cabinets. There are built in wardrobes and cupboards providing plenty of storage.
The interior has natural stone walls and white painted ceilings with original exposed beams which provide a nice light and airy atmosphere.
Steps lead down under the mezzanine to a store area and generous size modern shower room.
There is a natural grotto built into the rear wall.
In the local area these small caves were dug into the rock of hillside dwellings which made a well to collect rain water.
Now it makes a good place to keep your wine cool !
Underneath the terrace is a large storeroom where there is a washing machine (shared with apartment one) and also space to store large items such as bikes etc.
There is a new well equiped modern kitchen with beautiful granite worktops and marble tiles, a dining area which will seat 4 and a living area with a large L shaped settee which makes a large sofabed if required. There is also a downstairs WC.
The interior is full of character with natural stone walls and exposed beams.
